JAMS
JAMS VIP
JAMS (Virtual Fighter Mix)
The Jammer is a Blackout-exclusive Raytraxian obtainable by going to where the Fedoras normally spawn during the event. There, you will find a pair of glowing Headphones spawning in their place. Put them on and shortly afterward you will transform into a Jammer.
Appearance
Jammer is a primarily gray wolf-like Raytraxian. The tips of its tail and underbelly are of lighter gray coloration. The sides of its limbs have an array of 5 turquoise blue and white circles, consisting of one large circle and 4 smaller ones. It wears a pair of near-black headphones on its head. During a Blackout, it will have a light-blue outline, and its spots will glow the same color.
The VIP variant of Jammer has a yellow outline, though with it's 'Virtual Jammer" skin equipped their VIP outline will instead be pink.
Abilities
Attack
Does a decent amount of damage to a foe.
Grab
Grabs the enemy. Does more damage the longer the grab is active. The grab can be negated by somebody attacking you, or the victim breaking out of the grab by rapidly pressing the highlighted button(s) enough times.
Diversion
The Jammer bops its head up and down, jamming out to its music. The headphones start pulsing in sync with the music, emitting blue particles shaped like eighth notes. In it’s VIP variant, Jammer will hold a microphone. Using this will play the song "JAMS."
- You must be mutated via headphones to get this tool; being mutated by another Jammer will not give it to you.
- A similar function for exclusive items/tools applies to the Nightshade, and their counterparts.
(VIP Exclusive) Jamming
This is identical to "Diversion" in all ways except cosmetic. The notes it emits will cycle through the colors of the rainbow, and your animation now holds a microphone up to your character's mouth. Using this ability will play the song "JAMS VIP."
Trivia
- When becoming a Jammer, the chance of becoming a VIP Jammer is (1/30 (3.33333333%)).
- This special variant of Jammer used to have a rainbow outline that persists during the Blackout event, though temporarily resetting back to the default blue outside of it. It has since been replaced with a solid yellow (or pink if you have the Virtual Fighter skin equipped).
- Despite the Jammer's headphones not being in its ears, it jams out anyway.
- VIP Jammer can only play their VIP-exclusive music during a Blackout, otherwise they will play the regular version.
- When you're a VIP Jammer, you will have a microphone when using the "Diversion" ability.
- It takes about 27 seconds to be mutated after putting on the headphones.
- When doing the California emote, Jammer will play an 8-bit version of California Girls.
- This also works with Nightshade while holding the boombox.
- When doing the Smug emote, Jammer will play a slightly muffled version of Transit.
- This works with Nightshade as well.
- Due to Jammer's transformation method being through a transmogrifying item, if you were mutated via the item (rather than another Jammer) then it will drop on the floor upon death, allowing any other player on the human team to pick it up afterwards. After a short time, it then despawns.
- You are able to pick up your own dropped headphones if you are able to access them quickly enough after respawning.
- While being a trait shared among most Raytraxians obtained through transmogrifying items, Nightcrawler and Saturn are exempt from this.
- Similarly, You cannot transform into Jammer through wearing headphones if you have a hazmat suit on.
- Jammer had a second alternate icon in the Bestiary obtained by spam-hovering over its Bestiary icon. When obtained, the JAMS soundtrack would play for a short amount of time. The alternate icon is incredibly similar to the first alternate icon, however the eyes have thicker outlines, alongside other minor changes.
- This has since been removed.
- A VIP Jammer used to have their "Diversion" ability removed and replaced with "Jamming," but now you instead just gain access to both.
